I was raised in a military family and have lived across much of the southeastern United States. I attended high school in Texas and have called it home ever since. I came to Austin in 1985 to attend the University of Texas and have been here for over 20 years. I have been married to Thornton for 19 years and we have three sons. The boys are currently enrolled in Lake Travis ISD – one each in elementary, middle and high school. The family is active in baseball, football, and Boy Scouts. I understand what it is like to raise a family in Travis County and the limitations we all have with time and resources. We're all concerned about paying our mortgage, college tuitions, and the ever increasing taxes. Traffic has become not only a health and safety issue, but also a quality of life issue for many of us. As a government auditor, I have experience assisting city, county, and state government in finding economies and efficiencies and ways to spend its funds more effectively. This kind of experience can greatly assist in eliminating waste in government so that the State can fully fund essential services without continually asking more from the taxpayers. |
